Learn how to keep rodents away from your home!

Even though rats and other rodents are easier to spot, they are sly creatures that know where to hide in a home. Rats and mice can cause extensive damage to your property, including chewing wires, creating holes in floors and walls, and tearing up furniture.

They are known to be a carrier of diseases as well, so rodents are a health hazard in homes and businesses. The best way to handle pest control is to hire an exterminator! However, there are ways to prevent rodents from entering your home or business in the first place, and at-home methods of mice control.

Keep Food Stored in Air-Tight Containers: Keeping pet foods and other dry ingredients stored in glass or metal containers can help to keep rodents away, as there won’t be food that is immediately accessible to them.

Seal Potential Entry Points: The most common way that rodents manage to enter a home is through cracks in the foundation, floors, and walls. During colder weather, mice and rats will be in search of warmth and shelter, so if your home is accessible in these ways, they will attempt to sneak in. So, it’s imperative to seal these openings as quickly as possible.

Use Natural Repellants: Vinegar and peppermint or clove essential oils produce a strong odor, which is likely to deter rodents from entering your home. The scent of a predator, such as a cat, could also act as a repellant.

While removing pests from your home on your own is possible with traps, poisons, and other methods, it can be costly and labor-intensive. Hiring a rat exterminator saves you the time and effort spent on trying to remove pests on your own. A mouse exterminator will know how to rid your property of pests safely and effectively, so you don’t have to worry about performing rat control on your own.
